INTERAC® e-Transfers



Autodeposit allows you to securely receive money from an e-Transfer without needing to log in to online banking or the mobile app to accept it.  By registering your email address with INTERAC, your funds will be automatically deposited into the account of your choice without having to answer a security question.

Request Money

The Request Money feature is an option to request an e-transfer for money that you are owed.  Once the request has been sent, the recipient will receive a notification.  If the recipient accepts this request, the funds will be automatically deposited into your account and you will receive an email notification when this deposit is made.

What Is INTERAC e-Transfer?


INTERAC e-Transfer is a convenient way to send, request or receive money directly from one bank account to another.  All that is required is access to online banking and you can send or request money to anyone with an email address or mobile phone number and a bank account in Canada all without sharing any personal Financial Information.

  • Paying a roommate for your portion of rent or bills

  • Paying for everyday purchases such as housekeeping, babysitting or home repairs

How to Send and Receive an INTERAC e-Transfer

  1. Login to online banking and select ‘transfer’, or the INTERAC e-Transfer icon on the Mobile App
  2. Select ‘Send INTERAC e-Transfer
  3. Enter the amount of money you want to send, and the account to withdraw from
  4. Select the recipient from your recipient list
  5. Select to send via email, mobile or both
  6. You can enter a short message for the recipient (this message should never contain the answer to the security question)
  7. Process
  8. Your recipient will receive a notification that you have sent them an INTERAC e-Transfer, and will follow the links provided in the email, or text message, to deposit their funds.
  9. Once they have answered the security question correctly, they can deposit the funds immediately – no holds, no hassle!
  10. If your recipient’s Financial Institution does not subscribe to the INTERAC e-Transferservice, it’s no problem! They can still receive their funds by following the link to INTERAC’s Interac Association’s site, at which time you will be asked to create or log into your existing account with INTERAC Association. Once logged in, INTERAC Association will proceed to deposit the transfer into your chequing or savings account (which usually takes 3-5 business days). For non-participating financial institution deposits, a $4.00 service fee will be deducted from the transfer amount.
