Term Deposits

Safe & Secure

A guaranteed investment certificate (GIC) is a low-risk and secure investment that guarantees 100% of the original amount that you invested while earning interest over a fixed period of time.

Prairie Centre's term deposits (or GICs) are investments where the principal (the original amount you invested) as well as the interest payments are guaranteed. They are safe and secure, offer a competitive interest rate, and give you some flexibility in choosing the term length and interest payment frequencies you’d like.

Prairie Centre offers a number of term investments to choose from. These range from one to five year terms and are great options if you do not need immediate access to your funds and want to earn a higher interest rate on your savings.

If you're looking for something short term that you can access quickly, you might want to check out PCCU's Fast Track High Interest Savings account.  Fast Track gives you a higher interest rate on your savings account no matter what your balance.  That way, you can still save, earn a higher rate of return, and have access to your money whenever you need it.

What's great about investing in PCCU is that our term deposits are also 100% guaranteed by the Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation of Saskatchewan. Basically, what that means is your deposits are secure as the Deposit Guarantee Corporation of Saskatchewan provides an unlimited guarantee on all deposits, including accrued interest to the date of payout. Members feel safe and secure knowing their deposits are protected!

In case you need it, here’s a brief recap of our terms:

  • One to five year terms (click here to view our available terms and interest rates)
  • Interest calculated daily and paid annually (this can compound or be paid out annually)
  • $1,000 minimum balance required
